Sofia Dimova led us to one of her urban interventions entitled When There Are No Words Left, in which she transformed unused commercial signs into carriers of messages related to historical events and current political issues. Through performance and visual language she drew attention to the hidden layers of the urban environment. Its appeal is to listen closely to the bird’s song, which will lead you into the past. “When there are no words left, silence will find you.” Sofia Dimova began her practice of using abandoned commercial signs with poetic messages in the city of Varna in 2023. “Nine Elephants” provided the opportunity and platform for the artist to continue and expand this initiative in Sofia as well.

Sofia Dimova (1996) is a multidisciplinary artist born in Varna. She graduated from Minerva Art Academy (Groningen, Netherlands) with a degree in Fine Arts in 2019. In her practice, Sofia Dimova combines various materials and techniques that help her create an interconnectedness between personal, fundamental, and socio-political issues.
