In their workshops, Valya Marinova and Kat Todorova try out scenarios for liberation through participatory theatre using the methodology of the ‘Theatre of the Oppressed’, in which everyone could participate.

The project was initiated in response to the increasing cases of hate crimes against LGBT+ people in the city, and its organizers use theatre as a tool for social and political change. The workshop is the final stage of a series held over the past few months.

Valya Marinova is a facilitator and youth worker with experience in the NGO sector, working through non-formal education, art, group processes and activism.

Kat Todorova holds a BA in Theatre Arts from New York University in Abu Dhabi. Some of her previous projects include acting training at the Meisner Studio at NYU Tisch, USA.
