A tour, led by Diana Nedeva and Meeting Points, in restaurants and food and spice shops in the area of the Women’s Market, takes us through different culinary cultures and their languages.
The tour includes meeting the people behind some of the most exciting places to eat in the city and talking about the different languages we use to refer to food. Many of the words we use have Arabic, Persian and Kurdish origins. Diana Nedeva explores these threads of language, already deeply woven into our being, by positioning words in the windows to guide our gustatory experiences into an even deeper social context. This is how we connect through both words and spices.
Meeting Points, organizer of the event, believes in the transformative power of human encounters when we connect with each other, sharing stories, experiences and ideas. That’s why the mission of Vesi Deyanova and Diana Nedeva is to create opportunities for these touchpoints to exist. They achieve this through various forms of art, culture, informal education and volunteering – in real interaction with the environment and the residents.
